"Never give up"

After watching the news yesterday evening I have to blog about Diana Nyad.  She ultimately reached her lifelong dream of swimming from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage.  Diana, 64 years old, swam the 110 miles for fifty-three hours straight.  Diana has been trying to fulfill this dream since she was 28 and this was her fifth attempt at swimming this long treacherous distance.  After she got out of the water she looked very distraught but continued to walk and praise supporters telling them to never give up on their dreams.  Diana's story is a brave and very encouraging story for others to uplift others, especially women.

  1. Yes, this lady is awesome in my opinion. I think her story shows as you point out that no matter how crazy your dream may be or important to others that you can do it. I think some people may not understand why in the world she set this goal but, for her it meant the world to her. I saw her on Ellen doing an interview were she talked about how she set this goal years ago. Considering that it takes a lot of energy makes it more fascinating that she was able to accomplish this at the age of 60. It sucks that she has doubters or "haters" is what I like to call them. I say well done Ms. Nyad and congratulations.

  2. Never let go of your dreams, that is the message I take away from this woman's feat. She is in her mid 60s, nothing to lose, and was able to accomplish a goal that she has striven to reach her whole life. How many of us can say we have never given up? I believe we grow and adapt, but that does not mean that we have to give up on dreaming.

As far as her doubters are concerned, I say this, what is wrong with believing? What happened to people that they are scared to let themselves believe in anything? If you believe that you can accomplish something, then why should you not be able to?
